DT Omar Dyles

Bellevue DT Omar Dyles did not attend the junior day at Washington but he told TDR yesterday that he really wishes he would have gone. The 6-foot-1, 260-pound defensive lineman has offers from Montana and Montana State. He's a prime offer candidate down the road. Kwiatkowski himself has recruited him pretty heavily. Because Dyles' recruitment is slower due to his relative lack of size, one has to imagine that a strong year of growth would dramatically improve his recruiting stock.

Dyles calls Shane Bowman his "best friend" and he's also tight with Budda and several others, mostly from Bellevue.

He has camped at UDUB in the past and I'm guessing whether he's offered will depend on his performance at camp(s) this summer.

Utah's top-ranked prospect

Utah's top-ranked 2016 prospect, Simi Fehoko, attended UDUB's junior day and spoke with TDR late Sunday evening. The high three-star receiver is a major Washington target. You don't make that kind of unofficial visit your junior year, during the school year, unless you're serious. Fehoko said he felt comfortable on campus and he enjoyed getting to meet with Pease, who talked about the offense and the opportunities for receivers in the coming years, and Petersen. Think UDUB is a major dark horse to contend with here.

Three-star OL Conner Crist

Three-star Tigard, Oreg., offensive lineman Conner Crist is listed at 6-foot-3, 305 pounds, so he's probably an interior lineman at the college level. Crist is waiting for his first offer but Washington seems to have serious interest, as does Oregon State. He's visited both schools recently and his trip to UDUB was on Saturday for the junior day.

Crist wants to major in business and if he picks up several offers that could be a decisive factor that pushes him in UDUB's direction, because he loves the academics at the school. He also loves the Seattle area.

UDUB is well positioned with a few Oregon recruits, and even more now that some went up for the JD.

Yakima (Wash.) Davis junior Eric Briscoe Jr.

One of the in-state juniors at Washington on Saturday was Eric Briscoe Jr., and I'm attaching his junior film below.

I spoke with Briscoe and he had nothing but good things to say.

He's a 6-foot-3, 215-pound athlete and one of the hang ups with Washington has been that the coaches don't know what position to offer him as. He thinks he's an OLB. Notably, Don Pellum from Oregon is telling him that an offer from the Ducks may be coming.

Highlights: Eric Briscoe Jr.

Portland (Oreg.) Central Catholic's Lamar Winston, Ronnie Rust

Portland (Oreg.) safety Ronnie Rust heard from Washington earlier in the process. The '16 Central Catholic DB is teammates with Lamar Winston, who did attend the UDUB junior day and who does have a UDUB offer. But he did not attend -- Rust, that is -- and while he heard from Washington earlier in the process he hasn't in a while.

Winston, OTOH, is one of UDUB's top targets. He has family in the area and connected to the school. They would love to see him at Washington. Even though he's in Oregon and the Ducks have offered Washington has a real shot here because of those ties. He's been to UDUB before but this was a chance to see things he hadn't seen before.

Winston's mother actually knows Keith Bhonapha and has for a while. Winston said he likes the coaches and their emphasis on academics and life outside of football. He was also very impressed with the facilities.

QB Matt Fink

The UDUB staff has made QB Matt Fink a major recruiting priority and he told me tonight that his trip to Washington was "amazing." He admitted his interest in Washington is much higher now than it was before, mainly for two reasons: He loved the coaches and he genuinely believes the offense is an excellent fit for him. Washington is the only school that has offered that he's really visited in a way like this. He won't say UDUB is his favorite, but that's the vibe I got.

SIGNING DAY CENTRAL!

TheDawgReport.com will be covering all the National Signing Day happenings. Letters of intent, surprises, all you can imagine. As it rolls in, we'll report it right here on the 12th Man board.

Jake Browning and Ezekiel Turner enrolled early but the @UW_Football twitter account gives them their moment in the sun with mentions at '15 signees.

Myles Rice will greyshirt but the Texas defensive end, who suffered an injury, is on board with UDUB.

Soso Jamabo commits to UCLA. That makes Chris Warren even more important for Texas. If you're looking for story lines and gossip, you wonder whether Warren might have known (or had an inkling), and what kind of impact that might have had.

UPDATE: CHRIS WARREN COMMITS TO TEXAS.

Big Week Ahead!

If you're on this site chances are it's one of the most exciting sports weeks of the year. Not only are we talking Super Bowl here. We're talking junior day on Feb. 7 (in a week). Before that there's Signing Day. And this weekend there's Chris Warren in town.

Former Seahawks' great Chris Warren's son will be in Seattle this weekend for his official visit. The Rivals250 running back is in town this afternoon and he'll be on campus a little less than 48 hours, we're hearing. It won't be a big weekend for visitors, although there may be a surprise or two in store that we're trying to uncover, so that means Warren will get the red carpet treatment and almost all of the attention.

It will help that UDub commit Henry Roberts is in town for his official. He's a good ambassador for the program and a "true believer" so to speak. He's all in with this staff and will be genuine and enthusiastic around Warren. You can bet current players, beyond Warren's host, will be heavily involved this weekend. Chris Petersen and the offensive coaching staff will make the case that Warren would fill a big void and they could shape the offense around him as a ground and pound back that wears on a defense and logs a lot of carries.

Washington's basketball game against Cal, at 12:00pm on Sunday, may or may not be part of the trip. I'm not sure when Warren's flight leaves on Sunday. I'm thinking he will probably not be at the game, because official visits normally end on late Sunday mornings, especially when a kid is flying in earlier on Friday.

Before Signing Day, Washington would love to add a couple more pieces to the puzzle.

This week news broke that Texas defensive end Myles Rice would greyshirt, meaning he would not come on scholarship until the following year. So he will count against 2016's numbers, which theoretically frees another spot for '15, if the coaches choose to use that. TheDawgReport.com reported earlier this week that long snapper A.J. Carty would be greyshirting, too.

Bryce Sterk

Spoke with someone familiar with the situation and it would be a surprise if Sunday ends without a commitment from Bryce Sterk. I cannot say it has happened yet but the in-state DE/Buck is reportedly leaning heavily to the Huskies. That's not directly from him so take it FWIW, but the info from this source has been reliable lately, e.g. Potoa'e & others.

Countdown to Potoa'e

It's one of the biggest recruiting announcements of the year. Benning Potoa'e chooses either Washington or UCLA at 2:30. The time is drawing near and confidence in the Washington football offices is high. That's as of very recently today. Nobody has indicated to us yet that a silent commitment has been given but there's a confidence that's not so quiet. The feeling will be one of profound disappointment and surprise if he chooses another school.
