Noah Dickerson...

Still remains on Washington's roster and has not been given his release yet, and a source with knowledge of the situation said there is no clarification on whether or not he will push for the release or remain at UW. If Mike Hopkins can hold on to Dickerson that will drastically change how the tides have been going for the Huskies since firing Lorenzo Romar.

3-star Florida LB talks Washington

I recently had the chance to catch up with 3-star Tampa (Fla.) Catholic LB Deandre Fitz-Henley to talk recruiting. He hold an offer from Washington and said he's interested in the Dawgs.

Here's a portion of what he had to say:

In His Words: “Washington was an offer I was excited to pick up. I’m just an athletic linebacker and I can play all three of the linebacker positions, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m still going to make plays wherever I am on the field and I think that’s what they like about me. I think I would fit well out there.”

On familiarity with the program: “I don’t know that much about them but I want to take an official visit there for sure. I got to see them play against Alabama in the Playoff, they should have won that game. It was a good game. Because it’s so far I have to wait to take an official. I’m not sure about the distance, I think about staying close to home but you never know what’s going to happen.”

Jacob Sirmon Responds to Yankoff commitment...

As expected, many have asked about the Huskies now holding two commitments. Yes, Washington is taking two quarterbacks with Yankoff being the second. The first, 4-star and Rivals100 QB Jacob Sirmon, has been committed for a long time and while he has added several high profile offers, he remains committed to UW.

"I will compete no matter where I go," Sirmon said. "Not quite, but at the end of the day I don't really care. I love competition and I know what I'm capable of."

Context: I asked Sirmon if he knew this was coming and that's where the not quite came in. Take that for what it's worth...

4-star OT Dawson Jaramillo to visit Washington

2018 four-star Lake Oswego (Ore.) offensive tackle Dawson Jaramillo told me this morning he has spoken briefly with new UW offensive line coach Scott Huff, and has set another unofficial to Seattle for April 15. Jaramillo has held high interest in UW before the Huff hiring, but with the coaching adjustment and Oregon making a strong push with an offer and hosting him for a visit, and is looking forward to meeting Huff in person.

Back from Vacation: Spring Previews begin at Quarterback...

Took about 10 days off but still keeping tabs on what has been happening on the recruiting front. UW offered Lowe and he jumped at the chance while Spiker has been a lean since the year began, just wanting to take a few remaining visits to USC and UCLA before making his decision public.

Huff already hitting the recruiting trail...

New Washington offensive line coach Scott Huff has already hit the ground running on the recruiting trail. Got word tonight that 2017 three-star Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral center Justin Dedich was able to talk with the Huskies' assistant today along with his father. Dedich is a hot commodity across the country this spring, but Washington did a good job of getting involved early and Huff has picked right up where Strausser left off.

We'll catch up with Dedich to hear how the conversation went, but he already expressed his happiness on Huff being the replacement for Strausser.

Couple other notes:

- Washington is definitely going to push hard for the two Chaparral HS linemen: Steven Jones and Justin Dedich. UW is also expected to keep on 4-star OT Dawson Jaramillo as well.

- Chris Murray, a 3-star OG who picked up an offer from Washington recently, told me tonight he didn't even know about Strausser leaving or Huff being hired. Don't think he's high on their list at this point but still a name to remember.

The Latest on OL coaching search...

Was able to confirm earlier this afternoon that UW offensive line coach / associate head coach Chris Strausser has officially accepted the Denver Broncos assistant offensive line coaching position and is leaving with the search already under way.

From what I'm told UW coach Chris Petersen will go outside the program again for Strausser's replacement, with the expectation that the hire will be made relatively quickly. I've already complied a couple names that are expected to be considered for the position with a couple having Boise State ties.

Another name that popped in my head is Colorado OL coach Klayton Adams, a former Bronco offensive lineman from 2003-04 who also served as a graduate assistant in 2006 before Petersen was promoted to head coach. The two are close and Petersen holds Adams in high regard, but it might be hard for UW to pry him away from Colorado this close to spring football.

The key for Petersen is the assistant coaches salary pool will increase significantly once the coaching staff is finalized heading into spring ball. Expect several UW defensive assistants to get a raise, including both DC Pete Kwiatkowski and Co-DC Jimmy Lake, who turned down an offer to become Cal's defensive coordinator this off-season.

Despite now sharing the offensive coordinator title with newly hired wide receivers coach Matt Lubick, the Huskies are also expected to give Jonathan Smith a substantial raise. Smith's contract ran out on Jan. 31, but the understanding has been he would receive a new contract following a resurgence last season.

Prior to becoming CU's OL coach / assistant HC last offseason Adams served as running backs and tight ends coach from 2013-15. The co-titles earned Adams $250,000 a year, essentially level with UW running backs coach / recruiting coordinator Keith Bhonpaha, with a raise likely needed to lure him to Washington.
