2018 three-star Sumner (Wash.) inside linebacker Ben Wilson confirmed with me he will make the trip over to Montlake this weekend for the Huskies' Junior Day. Wilson was suppose to visit Washington in early January but the logistics didn't work out.

UW linebackers coach Bob Gregory has built a decent relationship with Wilson early but there's definitely a ways to go. Obviously an offer would certainly help, but Washington already has a similar LB in the fold in Jackson Sirmon, viewed by some as a four-star prospect when fully healthy.

Wilson said of the UW visit: "I definitely looking forward to it because it should be fun since they've put a lot of interest into me these past month."

I've been told 2018 four-star Murrieta (Calif.) Murrieta Valley wide receiver Marquis Spiker is expected to visit Washington next weekend separate from the Huskies' Junior Day next weekend. With the Huskies securing their first wide receiver commit today in four-star Austin Osborne things are already looking good for Bush Hamdan.

I've been able to confirmed Washington will not host any official visitors this weekend, even with 3-star OT Jaxson Kirkland receiving an offer and subsequently de-committing from UCLA on Thursday. Washington has gotten the guys they want in over the first two weekends and now it's a matter of seeing who faxes in their LOI on Feb. 1 of the prospects who aren't committed.

Former Rivals150 DT Brieden Fehoko told me this afternoon he finally received his release from Texas Tech and now can start communicating with other schools. Washington was one of his final five schools when he went through his recruitment in the class of 2015.

One source I spoke with said Washington has not decided if they will pursue Fehoko or not. A lot of the issues, again, surround the amount of scholarships and how much attrition Washington will have between now and the time most of the 2017 class will enroll in the summer. The loss of 4-star DT Marlon Tuipulotu could have an impact, but adding Fehoko would mean him sitting out for the 2017 season before having two years remaining to play. Washington would like to add another defensive lineman of Fehoko's caliber, but with Vita Vea returning the need isn't as pressing.

Keep an Eye on Former Texas Tech DT Breiden Fehoko: Recently former Rivals150 DT Breiden Fehoko announced he is transferred from Texas Tech and is willing to look at any school. Enter: Washington. UW defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and recruiting coordinator Keith Bhonapha both recruited Fehoko to Washington in 2014/2015 and those two relationships could play a major factor along with others.

Fehoko told me back in 2014 he was very attracted to the Hawaiian pipeline at Washington, along with his brother being classmates with former UW LT Micah Hatchie and Fehoko knowing several former Washington players due to family ties. He had Washington in his top five before choosing Texas Tech over others, but having history in place definitely gives Washington a strong chance to come full circle and land Fehoko as a transfer.

Fehoko told me this week he will receive his release from TTU by Thursday and then he will know which schools are restricted, or if there are no restrictions. Once that release comes there will be a lot more clarity on the situation. But keep Fehoko in mind moving forward...

UW assistant extensions a matter of when, not if: With UW offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Jonathan Smith being the only assistant to spend 2016 without a long-term contract, and DB coach/co-defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake turning down a position at Cal, the Huskies are expected to raise contracts again.

One source told Rivals this week the announcement for new contracts is held up from a logistics and travel and recruiting travel, rather than assistants taking other positions. That's good news for UW to keep Lake and others, but the question remains how much will UW athletic director Jen Cohen have to raise salaries again to fend off other programs?
