2020 three-star Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty wide receiver / defensive back Ramon Henderson...
On the UW offer… It was really cool. I talked to him (Will Harris) earlier that day. He came to school and talked to my head coach for a while then he talked to me for a quick five minutes. I was pretty happy. Pretty energetic. We just won and then with that it just added on to the night. Kind of like frosting on the cake.
On if it was a surprise… I guess you could say out of the blue. It was all recent stuff. I hadn’t really started talking to coach Harris until this past week. I met him before a long, long time ago. It was nothing really serious then. And then he came to school and told me he was going to be at the game. He watched me at the game and called me after and told me he offered me.
On Liberty's game… 38-14 against Clovis West… honestly I don’t think I went out there and went crazy or anything. It wasn’t anything spectacular for me in my opinion. I had some mistakes here and there. But honestly I didn’t think coach was messing with me. My mom had told me he left after – he talked to my mom and she told me he left. So obviously stuff like doesn’t work out. But he told my mom he was going to offer me, but she didn’t tell me that.
On how the UW offer impacts his recruitment… It opens my mind. It came kind of late. But I still have to see – everyone in my opinion is still in the race. I wouldn’t declare anyone out. I take in everything and weigh my options out very precisely. So I wouldn’t say they aren’t making a difference at all.
On if he will visit Washington… Really not decided yet
On UW interest… Definitely being offered as a DB that means something. Everyone knows Washington’s secondary is something legit. So it’s a pretty big deal in my opinion. They see something in me. Obviously I can go out there and do some things. They have a Bakersfield kid out there now and he’s looking nice on Saturday’s. So obviously they can develop some people as well.
On Cam Williams… I know of him. We weren’t like super close friends. We didn’t talk much. But if we saw each other it was like a head non, what’s up.
On his game… Honestly I’m not sure. I’m a little edgy player. In some ways I can get electrifying when I need to. Team player. Try to make plays any way I can, whether its offense or defense. I get frustrated with myself a lot rather than blame it on someone else. Like I’ll always take into consideration that some things are your fault. I’ll put my hand out before somebody else.
On Utah visit…They came out and they showed up. Their defense is looking really nice tonight. I think there’s no doubt in my mind they should be ranked in the top 10. They can play on both sides of the ball. The offense was moving. The defense was really moving. They’re a good team.
On how much of an impression did the Utes defense make… I would say yes, a little surprising. This is my first time ever being out here in Utah. I feel like everyone underestimates Utah a little bit. I came out here not knowing what to expect and they go out there and win a game like that. They showed they can do it on both sides of the ball. The defense really stepping up. Secondary looking good. The D-line getting off the ball and taking it to the crib. They had a good impression.
On what Henderson is looking for... Good relationship with my coaches and coaches that are ready and actually can develop me. Not only as a football player but as a man. Just being in a place that I like an enjoy. Another place like home.
