The Washington coaches have been very active during the spring on getting prospects up to Montlake for unofficial visits. This weekend The Dawg Report spoke with a handful of elite 2017 recruits that UW has been pushing for recently, with one confirming his visit date.
*** 2017 four-star Hayward (Calif.) Stellar Prep LB Addison Gumbs informed me this weekend he will take an unofficial visit to Washington on April 15. The four-star prospect has built a strong relationship with defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and linebackers coach Bob Gregory since being offered earlier this spring and stressed looking for that "home" feel when he comes up to Montlake. Since Washington only has two commits - Keith Taylor (cornerback) and Connor Wedington (running back) - the Huskies are in search for at least one if not two hybrid-backers for the '17 class.
*** 2017 four-star Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde wide receiver Bryan Thompson told me this weekend he spoke with running backs coach/recruiting coordinator Keith Bhonapha a couple weeks ago and the two sides are looking to set up an unofficial visit. With limited numbers for the '17 class, Thompson is a prospect the Huskies could wait out while focusing on their more high-profile targets. The 6'3, 185-pound receiver also participates in track which makes his schedule hard to work with during the school year for unofficial visits. But Thompson is a player to keep in mind moving forward.
*** 2017 three-star Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic athlete Grant Calcaterra took an unofficial visit to Washington a couple weeks back and enjoyed his time on campus. UW wide receivers coach Bush Hamdan had a one-on-one conversation with the three-star prospect, who the Huskies are recruiting as an inside wide receiver. Calcaterra did not walk out of his visit to Washington with an offer but the Husky coaches like what they see in his game. Depending on how the rest of the numbers break down he could be in line for an offer but that would come down the road.
*** 2017 four-star Roseville (Calif.) tight end Jimmy Jaggers told me this weekend he's considering taking an unofficial visit to Southern California this month after speaking with USC Head Coach Clay Helton and tight ends coach John Baxter. The Trojans have yet to offer Jaggers, who said it would "definitely be one to consider" if they extended the offer. Washington, UCLA and Utah are the three schools Jaggers highlighted when asked who he hears most frequently from. His plan moving forward is to trim his list down to five between March and the summer and select the five schools he'll take official visits to before the call.
