I understand we have a small subscriber base at this point, but I wanted to introduce myself to everybody as the new publisher of Dawg Report -- and introduce our plans to grow this site considerably moving forward. Those that are here already are in for some major upgrades, while we look forward to attracting a larger audience over the coming months and year.
First, my name is Ryan Young and I have run the USC site for Rivals for 3.5 years. In recent months, I collaborated with Rivals leadership on a plan to bolster our Pac-12/West Coast coverage. The reality is that Dawg Report and a few others weren't operating with a large enough subscriber base to have the means to staff a site like this the way it should be staffed. So the plan we came up with was to pool the resources from several sites -- Washington, Oregon, Cal, Arizona and UCLA -- and use that to hire a full-time West Coast recruiting reporter to flood recruiting coverage to each site. We brought on @Matt Moreno, who had previously served as the publisher of the Arizona site GOAZCATS.com. We took over a few of the other sites in January and have already put the plan in place at Oregon, Cal and Arizona, with Matt delivering consistent and engaging recruiting coverage tailored to each audience. That's the key. What you will get moving forward will be in-depth interviews and stories about Washington targets specifically -- not a general story where Washington is mentioned for a couple paragraphs. We want to turn this site into a destination for Huskies recruiting coverage.
Meanwhile, it's my job to manage all the sites and line up a reporter to cover the team side of things from Seattle. We're working on putting that person in place, hopefully by the start of spring practice. I'm still based in L.A. myself, so it's important we have someone on campus providing coverage from practices and press conferences, but I will be very hands-on with the site, you'll see my byline on stories as well and I will keep a presence on the board too. I look forward to engaging with everybody.
