Washington continues to play the cat-and-mouse game with its final four spots for the 2017 class. Here is our latest installment of Dawg Bites...
*** 2017 three-star Portland (Ore.) Westview defensive tackle Brandon Pili -- Washington still has not offered the rising West Coast prospect, despite USC and others pulling the trigger. The Huskies remain in the hunt for Jay Tufele, one of the top DT prospects in the country, and 5-star UCLA DL commit Jaelan Phillips. However, Washington coach Chris Petersen will be talking with Pili tonight and the three-star prospect has made it no secret he's high on UW.
UW defensive line coach Ikaika Malloe has also built a strong relationship, with the two talking weekly. Pili said of the relationship, "It's good - we've been talking for a while and we've built up a mutual trust. I like that he keeps it real and he's just a cool person in general."
*** 2017 three-star Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco defensive end Jacob Callier -- Washington has been mentioned in recent reports as one school that has been showing interest in the Colorado commit. However, Callier told Rivals this week he has not heard from the Huskies recently, while he is on their radar being from St. John Bosco. Callier could get more interest from the Huskies after the season if other options fall off, but right now he's not a guy for people to focus on.
*** 2018 four-star San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart -- Washington continues to remain the top program for the No.47 overall prospect in next years class. But this weekend Taylor-Stuart will make the shorter (compared to UW) trip north to visit USC this weekend for the Trojans' game against Oregon. However, despite having offered the four-star prospect, there isn't as strong of a relationship as one might expect.
"It's mild with them," Taylor-Stuart told Rivals of his interest in USC. "Just talking to the coaches and my friends were going up there already so they're my ride to the game [said with a laugh."
Taylor-Stuart has stated already this season Washington will definitely get a visit this off-season, potentially in January.
