UW OL Commit Schedules December OV

2018 three-star Houston (Tex.) Second Baptist OL Victor Curne told me tonight he has tentatively scheduled his official visit to Washington for Dec. 8-10, one of the two main weekends before the dead period and early signing period.

However, with Second Baptist being in a strong position to make a state title run, Curne could be forced to push the visit back of they continue to advance. As of now though his UW official will be in early December.

UCLA Commit Visiting After The Season

I received confirmation last night that 2018 four-star Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco cornerback Stephen Blaylock, a current UCLA commit, has scheduled an official visit to Washington for the weekend of Dec. 8-9. UW offered him this season and the Huskies are still looking for another defensive back in this years class.

Still working on getting more from Blaylock on his overall interest, but UW is getting him on campus.

3-star check up: Looking at Myles Gaskin and other 3-star RBs having success

Each week during the college football season we’ll use Wednesday as a chance to look back at three former three-star prospects that shined during the previous week’s college football action. This week we look at three running backs that came through in big ways for their teams on Saturday.

MYLES GASKIN, WASHINGTON

As a recruit: Despite putting up big numbers as a high school prospect and being ranked in the top 10 in the state of Washington in 2015, Gaskin just netted one offer outside of Washingtonand Washington State, courtesy of Arizona State. But the Seattle native didn’t need many offers as he ended his recruitment 11 months prior to National Signing Day, committing to the Huskies during the winter of his junior year.

What he did this week: Gaskin put up massive numbers in each of his two seasons and is well on his way to having another 1,000-yard-plus campaign in 2017. In Saturday’s victory over UCLA, Gaskin rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown, one of his best performances of the season. After making it to the College Football Playoff a year ago, Washington continues to be ranked among the country’s top teams and is hoping to play its way back into a spot this season. With Gaskin putting up big numbers and climbing the school’s all-time rushing list, it might still be a possibility for the Huskies to make it back into the picture.

Rivals100 RB Set to Visit Washington

2019 four-star Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O'dowd running back Austin Jones confirmed with me this evening he will be taking an unofficial visit next weekend vs UCLA. Jones is the No. 86 overall recruit in next years class and the No. 6 RB in the class, per Rivals, with a strong connection between Bishop O'Dowd and UW under Chris Petersen.

I will be posting more on Jones this weekend, but this will be a huge visit weekend for the Huskies.

No stars, no problem: Ryan Bowman and other unranked players having college success

Every Friday during the football season, we take a look back at some players who are performing well in either college football or the NFL despite the fact that they were unrated as high school prospects. Here’s our rundown from this past weekend, featuring three defensive players that came up big in their teams victories.

As a recruit: Bowman moved from Bellevue, Wash. to attend IMG Academy in Florida for his senior season in hopes of jumpstarting his recruitment, but even the exposure there didn’t really help his cause. He received an offer from FCS program Montana, but elected to go back home to Washington and walk on with Huskies, where his older brother Shane is also on the team.

What he did this week: After redshirting in 2016, Bowman has quickly worked his way into the lineup for one of the nation’s highest-ranked teams. In Saturday’s victory over Washington, Bowman had four tackles, including 1.5 sacks and has made himself a regular contributor for the Huskies defense this year. Chris Petersen and his staff did a great job of finding diamonds in the rough at Boise State and appear to still be able to surprise with players like Bowman.
