Husky fans, what's the feel for how well Kasen Williams is going to do this

year?

I'm a UGA guy myself, but I love college football and have Kasen on my college fantasy football team. Doesn't seem a lot of pundits think he is going to have a breakout year, but I think (hoping) the way he finished last year, his development, and of course his size, will make him a big target this year. I know you guys lost a couple big WRs last year, so Kasen would naturally go into the category of one of Price's favorite targets, but curious if the defenses you guys face will key in on him and if he will draw a lot of double teams. Do you guys have a solid No.2 receiver in case Kasen does draw those double teams?

Thanks for any insight!

Go Dawgs! (the UGA variety, haha)

Monday press conference and start of week notes

Here are a few points to hit on from Monday's press conference and what to look for this week as the Washington Huskies prepare to travel to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers.

Injuries:

- Hau'oli Jamora reinjured his ACL and will be out for the rest of the season. He utilized his redshirt season last year, which counts, so it remains to be seen what will happen with this season. It looks like this year is going to count.

- Jesse Callier injured his ACL in Saturday's game against SDSU and will be out for the remainder of the season. He is likely to utilize a redshirt season.

- Ben Riva saw a specialist Monday afternoon for his broken arm suffered in Saturday's game. He will probably be out for a significant amount of time.

- Sarkisian said there are nine players on the current roster now that have had an ACL injury, including some that occurred prior to the players coming into the football program. They will continue researching to find out how to prevent these ACL injuries from occurring.

After reviewing the SDSU game, Sarkisian said that they missed some opportunities to really put the game away. "We almost lacked the killer instinct that was needed that night," Sarkisian said.

Sarkisian said that he was pleased with winning the turnover battle and with how the defense played. "I thought they showed the aggressiveness," Sarkisian said. "Obviously there's some things from alignment and assignment to get cleaned up there. I know we can tackle better than that. It will be a point of emphasis for us this week."

"It will be key for us to get acclimated the best we can while we're here in Seattle," Sarkisian said. That includes crowd noise simulation, hydration and, yes, a live tiger at what will now be known as Tiger Tuesday. (There was a live tiger brought in to Tuesday's practice to get the team hyped for the upcoming game).

With Callier out for the season, Bishop Sankey is listed as the starter on the depth chart. "We're going to find out more about Bishop Sankey in a hurry," Sarkisian said. "He got quite a few carries the other night and responded well." Sarkisian said he wished Sankey and blocked better and showed more patience, but he thinks that Saturday was a good learning experience for him, and Sarkisian said he has no doubt Sankey can do it. Erich Wilson II, Dezden Petty and Willis Wilson will all get more touches now.

What does it mean for the offensive line with Ben Riva out? James Atoe will most likely start at right guard. Erik Kohler and Mike Criste will both get looked at for right tackle. Sarkisian said there will also be opportunities for freshman Shane Brostek at right guard.

Of the freshmen that played (Jaydon Mickens, Kendyl Taylor, Erich Wilson II, Shaq Thompson, Ryan Masel, Korey Durkee and Pio Vatuvei), Sarkisian said, "all in all, nothing glaringly bad, maybe nothing glaringly great. I think we'll only see them get better as they move forward."

Sarkisian on the win against SDSU: "Winning is winning and that is ultimately why we do what we do…I felt like our guys walked out of there with kind of a bad taste in their mouths. They know that game could have went a lot better for us if we had taken advantage of a few more opportunities and done a few more things correctly, and that carried right over to (Monday) to our team meeting. This is a hungry group. They want to get things fixed, they want to put their best foot forward this Saturday night…I think in the past, we might have been as happy as all get out because we won (but not now)…we're happy that we won, but there's things that need to get corrected for us to continually get better."

Depth Chart: UW vs. LSU

This Saturday, the Washington Huskies will travel to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge to take on LSU.

The depth chart for that game was released this morning, and here are some notable points:

- RG will be Erik Kohler or James Atoe. Kohler was listed as the starter last game. The only change here is now the starter will either be him or Atoe.

- With Ben Riva out (arm), Mike Criste or Erik Kohler will take over at RT. This is perhaps the biggest change to the depth chart since last week.

- Bishop Sankey is listed as the starting TB. Jesse Callier (knee) is not listed anywhere on the depth chart. With Callier out, freshman Erich Wilson II made the depth chart with Willis Wilson and Dezden Petty.

- Desmond Trufant, who was shaken up in a play during last Saturday's game against San Diego State, is listed as the starter at CB.

- David Butler was taken off the depth chart at LS. Ryan Masel is the only player now listed at that position.

Travel to the Bayou

I would like to welcome all of the UW fans who are making the trip to Baton Rouge next week. Hurricane Isacc will be a memory, and the tailgating will be great. I had a great week in Seattle two years ago when we played there, and hope to be able to reciprocate the hospitality that you guys showed my wife and I. We will be looking for any and all UW fans to join us for food and beverage. Hope you all have safe travel. Geaux Tigers.

Husky Hoops: Think Positively

A missed tournament opportunity, no Ross, and no Wroten! This is what one was left thinking about after last Huskies basketball season came to a close. But forget about the negatives looming over Husky Hoops. Here's a few things I was thinking will greatly help the Huskies chances of having a successful basketball season this year:
1) An Early Road Win

The Huskies have recently been notorious for losing tons of road games at the start of the season (and all the way into mid-season for that matter). This year, their first road game is against Seton Hall on a neutral site (not incredibly intimidating), and technically the first "real" road game at an opposing team's home venue is at Key Arena against Seattle U. These are some potentially favorable scenarios for the Huskies as they search to get that evasive win of past out of the way early this year.

2) Pac-12 Teams Ranked

With the publicity surrounding the recruiting classes of Arizona and UCLA, the Pac-12 in general will hopefully impress in the early going of the season and win some games against non-conference opponents. This was a major issue last year as the Pac-12 faired poorly against other conferences. This year, if the Pac-12 can get some big wins early on, and keep teams in the top 25, the conference will actually be playing against ranked opponents during in-conference games! And if the conference plays against ranked teams all year, naturally this means more teams dancing come March.

3) Conference Champ and Conference Tournament Champ WILL Both Make the Tournament!

Though there were plenty of reasons why the Huskies didn't and rightfully shouldn't have made the tournament last year, I'm still shaking my head over this.

What else?

Rutgers fan with UW Game Questions

Hey guys Im a Rutgers fan but I will be in Seattle the weekend that you guys take on Utah. I have a few questions because I would like to take in a game before I head back to Jersey. First off how difficult is it to get tickets. I see its your last home game hence senior day so should I buy before hand or can I just score a pair in the lot? Is the stadium easy to get to? I will be at a wedding the night before so please keep in mind I might be hungover heading to the game. The weather? What should I expect I have been to plenty of bad weather games in the north east should I expect the same? Any other info would be great. Thanks.

The 2013 recruiting class is looking like 2012...Any 5 Stars?

Things are not looking better.

All we heard about in 2012, this recruiting class is not important. The critical class is 2013.
Washington had names like Jabari Bird, Zach Lavine,Stephen Domingo, J. Bird.
All of these are no longer a high probability. Close to Zero chance.

Before the recent rankings, Nigel was close to 110 ranking.

Are there any 5 star players that Romar can get?

Death Valley awaits you Dawgs soon.

I really dont see this trend ending anytime soon, LSU, Bama, Auburn etc... This year i really see LSU making it 7 in a row (call me a homer) but... LSU will be loaded not to mention they have unfinished business from last season. I really can see the SEC winning possibly 10 possibly 15 straight national titles before the streak ends, Miles, Saban, Muschamp etc... great recruiting classes give these schools an opportunity to reload not rebuild. I really think other conferences just better accept the fact that the national title will go to an SEC school... the only question is Which one, Well that is not hard to figure out. See you dawgs in Death Valley in September for your thrashing.

Seattle was GREAT!!!

It is a tough city to drive around especially with the lack of exits on Aurora, Broadway exit having construction and just my lack of a GPS device :).. We used a map and it didn't show all the one way streets..

Saw the Jimmy Hendrix Memorial, Kurt Cobain Memorial next to his old house, The Fremont Troll, Chihuly Glass exhibit, exhibit, EMP theater, Pikes market, Seattle T-Shirt Company(on Pike and 1st ave not really in the market but the best place to by T-Shirts in the city), Beth's Cafe, Crab Pot, Red Mill Burger, Dick's Drive in, Olympic Sculpture Park, Kerry Park (great View of Seattle), Karaoke at Baranof (Greenwood and like 86th).., Greenwood Mandarin on Greenwood Ave and 72nd??.. Great and delicious "BIG" breakfast's all over the city... etc...

A great experience in Seattle and will be back some day.

GO KNIGHTS!!!
