Jaylen Nowell commits to Washington

Hey guys, this is Ben Parker from Cal Rivals. Earlier this week, 2017 4-star guard Jaylen Nowell from Seattle committed to Washington. I couldn't find a thread on it in here, so I figured I would just create this one. He should be a nice addition to the Washington squad. He's a really talented guard that gets in the lane well, scores around the rim, etc. The reason I'm commenting on Jaylen Nowell is that Cal really wanted him and was hoping to land him, but at the end of the day, he wanted to stay close to home, which I totally understand. It's tough to pull guys out of Seattle when they have a great program like UW in their backyard.

UCLA Offers 2018 Washington Commit...

2018 four-star Bothell (Wash.) quarterback Jacob Sirmon, a Washington commit, added an offer from UCLA on Wednesday night. This is one offer to monitor until January 2018, when Sirmon will enroll early.

Sirmon is close with UCLA assistant Marquese Tuiasosopo and he's a coach that Sirmon trusts for tips and advice. However, Sirmon remains solid to Washington. But if changes come at UW after the season, expect him to reevaluate his options with UCLA being a top target.

Sirmon told me tonight the Bruins offer is "Major. It's a great school with a lot of tradition. Good coaches and even better football."

Quick Note on Isaac Slade-Matautia

Spoke with the family of 2017 four-star Honolulu (Hi.) St. Louis inside linebacker Isaac Slade-Matautia, who said he has completed his trips to Cal and Colorado with his trip to Washington, and most likely Washington State as well, set for July. It's expected that he will visit Washington on July 15 for the Huskies' Rising Stars Camp, where the staff is hoping to get as many players who are already committed on campus to be around other potential commits.

He doesn't do a ton of media and being tucked away in Hawaii certainly helps that, but Washington is very much in play for the four-star prospect.

Ex/future Husky News...

While the official confirmation has yet to be released, former Washington men's basketball star guard Brandon Roy will be named the Head Coach at Nathan Hale.

From people I've talked with Roy will have at his disposal Michael Porter Jr., the No.2 overall prospect in 2017, and Jontay Porter, who has already committed to Washington as a 2018 prospect. The dual moves are a massive shake up to the Metro Division in Seattle, with Nathan Hale having the best prospect in the country arguably this season.
