Visitor List: Oregon Week

While the rain continues to sprinkle at Husky Stadium a handful of recruits have already confirmed their status. I'll continue to update the thread as more recruits are confirmed.

Cooper McDonald, a 2020 outside linebacker commit to UW, is back on campus for an unofficial visit having already taken his official in June. McDonald, a three-star LB from Justin, Texas (Northwest High School), made his pledge to Washington back on July 23 and hasn't been on campus since.

McDonald visited UCLA earlier this season back in September when the Bruins hosted the No. 5 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. He has remained firm on his decision and has not added an offer from UCLA since his trip last month.

Keith Brown, a 2021 four-star inside linebacker from Lebanon, Oregon, is also on campus this weekend for the third time since Washington became his 7th scholarship offer back on May 17. Brown, a 6-foot-2 and 220-pound backer is the No. 1 ranked ILB in the 2021 class by Rivals and viewed as a high priority for the Huskies.

Two Notable Absences For UW vs Arizona...

Per Elise Woodward, redshirt freshman running back Richard Newton and senior center Nick Harris will miss tonights game at Arizona. Newton is not surprising given his injury last Saturday at Stanford, but Harris is a surprising scratch.

Redshirt freshman Matteo Mele will start in place of Harris against the Wildcats. Through the first six games Mele has played 80 total snaps (35 pass, 45 run). According to Pro Football Focus player grades the second-year UW lineman has a 51.9 offensive grade, 28.8 pass block and 56.8 run blocking grade.

Without Newton, the Huskies will turn to junior Kamari Pleasant in addition to fellow juniors Salvon Ahmed and Sean McGrew. To this point, Pleasant has played just 17 total snaps in 2019 and three combined between the Stanford and BYU games.

Ahmed leads the group with 80 total snaps, with Newton second (69) and McGrew (49).

UW commits at the Polynesian Classic

I was on hand at the Polynesian Classic in Las Vegas this past weekend and had the opportunity to photograph two Four-Star 2020 commits, WR Rome Odunze from Las Vegas, NV. and CB Jacobe Covington from Scottsdale, AZ. Both looked very good and their teams had dominant victories.

Check out the photo galleries below.

Saturday visitors (vs Cal)

Washington will have a bundle of recruits at Husky Stadium on Saturday for the Pac-12 opener. Of the 2020 commitments, four-star Valor Christian OT Roger Rosengarten, four-star Eastside Catholic RB Sam Adams II, and many others will be on hand.

Most importantly, five-star defensive end / linebacker Sav'ell Smalls will make his second trip to Montlake after making an unofficial visit for the EWU game last weekend. I expect Smalls will commit to Washington as one of 3-4 final additions to the 2020 class when all is said and done.

Could be sooner rather than later on when Smalls makes his decision.
